GRILL LAB
Grief and Response to Illness into Late Life Lab
About the Lab
The GRILL Lab investigates grief in numerous settings (e.g., illness; incarceration; post-loss). More specifically, we conduct research examining biopsychosocial processes, and scalable interventions for:
-
Pre-death grief responses of caregivers of individuals with life-limiting illnesses (e.g., cancer; dementia)
-
Prolonged grief responses to bereavement and non-bereavement (e.g., familial incarceration) losses
To study these processes, we use methods such as fMRI, wearable technology, clinical interviewing, neurocognitive assessments, self-report, and qualitative interviewing. Our research program's ultimate goal is to translate basic and applied research into scalable, technology-based interventions.
